About Us

We have been providing advice, support and counselling to individuals in our community since 1995 (previously under the name of Aylesbury Vale Rape Crisis).

Our primary aim is to provide support, information, advice and guidance to victims and survivors, empowering and enabling them to work with the trauma and suffering caused to them and their loved ones by sexual assault and abuse, including non-recent and childhood sexual abuse.

Our services are for survivors of all genders over sixteen that have been affected by sexual violence. We also work with partners to provide support for children over the age of 5 in Buckinghamshire, click here for more information on this service, and to provide support to survivors of all genders who have experienced domestic abuse.

We provide dedicated women-only and men-only support sessions, as well as a range of sessions and spaces open to people of all genders.

When we offer services which are for men or women only, we provide the following options:
• Support sessions for those who wish to be in a space with other cisgender people only (those assigned a sex at birth who continue to identify as this sex)
• Support sessions which include transgender individuals (those who identify differently to their sex assigned at birth), and those with complex gender identities who feel the space is right for them.

We are transparent at the outset with anyone accessing a service about whether it is limited to cisgender people or a transgender-inclusive space for all who feel that the support offer is right for them.

All our services are designed to offer safety, choice, and support for anyone who has experienced rape, sexual assault or abuse.

We are committed to fulfilling our legal obligations under the Equality Act. Upholding our principles of dignity, equality and inclusion, and ensuring that all those who need support after sexual violence can access it in a format which is right for them. This includes working to expand our provision to ensure everyone who has specific needs under the Equality Act can access support appropriate to their needs.

Please note that whilst we offer services which are for specific groups of people, our offices are based in a mixed gender space and to demand for our services, we provide a range of support services simultaneously. This means we are unable to guarantee that the entire centre will be restricted to a specific group of people at any time.

All our services are free to access and are provided by staff and volunteers that have received robust, specialist training to support individuals who have experienced sexual assault and abuse.

We believe nobody should have to cope with rape, sexual assault or abuse alone and we are here to help. We provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental service regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, sexuality or socio-economic background.

We recognise the significant impact of sexual assault and abuse on Black and minoritised communities and are committed to developing our anti-racist practice to support survivors, staff and volunteers alike.

We are a victim/survivor focused organisation and as such we do not offer support around perpetration of abuse. 

We are members of and hold the National Service Standards for Rape Crisis England & Wales, The Survivors Trust, the Male Survivors Partnership and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical Framework.
