Children and Young People in Milton Keynes
Helping Children and Young People Heal and Thrive in Milton Keynes
Through RISE (which stands for Resilience, Inspiration, Strength and Empowerment) we provide vital therapeutic support for children and young people affected by abuse, helping them heal, rebuild their lives, and reconnect with their communities.
Why RISE is Needed in Milton Keynes
Children and young people in Milton Keynes who have experienced child sexual abuse, domestic abuse, or sexual exploitation face significant challenges, made even harder by the absence of specialist services in the area. In Milton Keynes there has been no dedicated CRASA (Child Rape and Sexual Abuse) services available, leaving many young people without the support they urgently need.
Without access to specialist care, these children are at risk of further harm. They often struggle to trust others, carry feelings of shame, and experience trauma symptoms that deeply affect their wellbeing. Many go missing or isolate themselves, which can worsen both their physical and psychological health.
The Impact on Children and Young People
Many of the young people we aim to support are missing out on education and feel unsafe in the world around them. The abuse they have suffered disempowers them, stripping away control and leaving lasting scars. Some also face additional challenges such as emotional abuse or complex trauma, which can affect their development and ability to thrive.
Despite these hardships, these children are incredibly resilient. They have found ways to survive, even if that means coping through self-injury or other harmful behaviours. Our role is to offer them a safe, therapeutic space where they can begin to heal and regain control over their lives.
Our Mission: Breaking Down Barriers to Healing
RISE is designed as a specialist, child-centred service that removes accessibility barriers and provides a welcoming, trauma-informed environment. We focus on:
- Creating safety and trust for children and young people to feel secure.
- Offering tailored therapeutic support to address trauma and its effects.
- Supporting reintegration into schools, families, and the wider community.
- Providing hope and empowerment to help young people rebuild their futures.
